On this gorgeous October morning, the bridesmaids gathered, champagne was poured, and the whole group spilled out onto the private deck overlooking the water for a toast as the morning light danced across the sound. It is the kind of getting-ready moment that photographs itself.
The groomsmen had their own beautifully appointed space — a room with stunning glass walls that frame the waterfront view perfectly. There is something about getting ready with that view that just elevates the entire morning.
Both suites comfortably accommodate large wedding parties, which is a detail that matters more than most couples realize when they are planning.
The Grounds — A Photographer’s Dream
I will be honest with you: as a wedding photographer, I could spend hours on these grounds and never run out of backdrops.
The star of the show is the pier — a classic white-railed boardwalk that extends out dramatically over the Long Island Sound, with water on both sides and the wide open sky ahead. Walking a couple out to the end of that pier as the autumn light settles around them is one of my favorite things I get to do as a photographer. The images speak for themselves.
Along the shoreline, charming cabanas line the water’s edge, creating a relaxed, coastal elegance that is perfect for portraits. And tucked near the shore stands a remarkable sculptural tree — sweeping, windswept branches that look like something you would find on a Caribbean island — that serves as one of the most unique and striking portrait backdrops I have ever worked with.
Just across the road, a harbor dotted with sailboats adds yet another layer of charm. The nautical New England atmosphere is woven into every corner of this property.
The Cocktail Hour — Golden Hour on the Long Island Sound
The cocktail hour at Shenorock Shore Club is an experience in itself. Guests mingled along the sandy shore of the Long Island Sound as the sun began its descent over the bay, painting the water in gold and amber. There is no better way to begin a celebration than with a cocktail in hand, your toes near the sand, and a sunset unfolding across the water in front of you.
The in-house cuisine was exceptional — the kind of spread that guests are still talking about on the drive home.
The Reception — Twinkle Lights, Dancing & Pure Joy
The reception space at Shenorock Shore Club is nothing short of stunning. Soaring ceilings strung with warm twinkle lights created an atmosphere that felt at once elegant and magical. The tables were dressed in the bride’s favorite palette of blue and white florals — classic, romantic, and perfectly suited to the coastal setting.
With approximately 200 guests filling the room, the energy was electric from the very first dance. The DJ kept the floor packed all night long — and the undeniable highlight of the evening was the Tarantella. Every single person in that room got involved, spinning and laughing in a circle of pure, contagious joy. It is the kind of moment that reminds you exactly why we celebrate the way we do.
Fall Weddings at Shenorock Shore Club
October at Shenorock Shore Club is nothing short of magical. The marsh grasses along the shoreline turn to deep gold and amber, the light softens into that warm, painterly quality that every photographer chases, and the cooler air makes for the most comfortable, joyful celebrations. The pier portraits we captured on this particular fall day are among the most beautiful images I have made in years of photographing weddings.
That said — having photographed here in the summer as well, I can tell you that Shenorock is equally stunning in the warmer months. The sailboats are out on the sound, the greenery is lush, and the waterfront comes alive in a completely different, equally gorgeous way.
This venue is truly a year-round treasure.
