HOW THEY MET
Jackie and Matt went on their first date the evening of December 7th, 2015. On each side of the Tappan Zee Bridge, she lived in Rockland County and he lived in Greenwich and grew up in Westchester.
They decided on meeting in White Plains, which was a nice middle ground for them. Earlier that day, Matt decided on BLT for the restaurant, a steakhouse in the Ritz-Carlton. However, when they arrived, Matt learned there was a private party there that night, and he quickly spotted Serafina right down the street, a cute Italian restaurant that Matt thought would be perfect! He let Jackie know immediately the change in plans and fifteen minutes later she arrived and spotted him at the bar.
She walked over to greet him and he stood up to introduce himself and took her coat. What followed was the easiest, most enjoyable first date both of them had ever had! There was instant chemistry and comfortability and they talked for hours over a few glasses of cabernet. Their conversation ranged from their backgrounds to their families and on to their education, interests and passions.
Later that night, when Jackie told her mom about the date, she said, “I think I just went on my last first date.” Her mom replied, “That bad?” and Jackie answered, “No. That good.”
Jackie and Matt exchanged a few texts that night about how great of a time they had and how much they enjoyed each other’s company. The next day Matt texted “What does your tomorrow look like?” and the rest is history!
THE PROPOSAL
Matt proposed to Jackie on March 16th. He texted her and asked her if she would like to go to the New York Athletic Club at the New York City location for dinner on Friday night with another couple. He suggested staying over night in the city so they did not have to worry about getting back to Greenwich late at night.
They first went and checked into their room at the NYAC and it turned out Matt pulled out all the stops! He booked the Presidential Suite with a balcony overlooking Central Park. What a view! When she turned around there Matt was down on one knee. The proposal was so sweet and private and surreal. It was truly magical. She of course said yes and they headed back in the room to share some champagne and then called everyone to tell them the good news!
They headed downstairs and had a pretty little table by the window where they shared a memorable meal feeling excited for their future. They decided to go to the pub for a late night drink. The place was loud and boisterous on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day and it was the perfect way to end the evening. The next morning when they awoke they settled into their new reality; They were an engaged couple!
HOW THEY ARE ENJOYING LIFE
Jackie and Matt now reside in Greenwich, CT and they absolutely love it. On weekends in the summer, you can find them at The New York Athletic Club (Traver’s Island) in Pelham, NY where Matt had been a member since he was a child. They love the beach, playing sports and being active and exploring new restaurants.
In the winter, you can find them cozying up watching Netflix with hot chocolate or occasionally skiing down the slopes! They love going on vacation and cannot wait for their most anticipated one of all; their honeymoon (they are leaning towards Italy and Greece)! They look forward to a lifetime of love and happiness and having a family of their own!
They will be getting married July of 2019 and I am so excited to be a part of this happy and beautiful celebration!
