A Romantic West Village Engagement | Christine & Chris
Christine and Chris’s engagement session in the heart of New York City’s West Village was a celebration of their love story—one that began in a modern way, yet unfolded with old-school romance and charm.
The couple first met in the summer of 2020 on Hinge. At the time, Christine had just moved out of Manhattan to Hoboken in the middle of the pandemic, trading the bustling pace of NYC for a quieter space across the river. Chris was still living in the city. Their first date, like so many during that season, was an adventure. Chris drove over to pick Christine up, and together they set out to find an open outdoor restaurant. After being turned away from several fully booked spots, they finally discovered a small tucked-away eatery that welcomed them—and something just clicked. That night marked the beginning of something real.
Fast forward a few years, and the couple is now living together in the West Village—one of Manhattan’s most charming and iconic neighborhoods. It’s a place full of cobblestone streets, brownstones draped in ivy, and an effortlessly romantic atmosphere that suited their engagement session perfectly. Christine and Chris wanted their photos to reflect their everyday life and shared love for the city, so photographing them in their own neighborhood felt especially meaningful.
Their love is effortless and full of warmth. During the session, Christine wore a classic white dress that caught the soft breeze, while Chris wanted a more casual look. Together, they wandered through quiet tree-lined streets, paused for kisses under blooming branches, and shared laughter on the stoops of West Village brownstones.
As a couple who started their story during one of the most uncertain times in recent history, Christine and Chris’s journey is a beautiful reminder that love finds a way—even in the most unexpected of circumstances.
Chris proposed on a beautiful trip they took to the beautiful state of Vermont. After a full day of skiing they decided to go to their favorite Mexican restaurant and decided to grab some take out and have quiet night back at the house. When Christine walked back into the living room, there was Chris down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
For couples planning a New York City engagement session, the West Village offers endless opportunities for romantic portraits with character and charm. From picturesque corners and classic architecture to modern city vibes and peaceful riverside views, it’s no wonder it’s one of the best NYC neighborhoods for engagement photos.
