Chika and John met at The Brass Monkey located in lower Manhattan. They have spent the last five years enjoying the New York City life and now they find themselves moving to the West Coast. Recently engaged, they wanted to commemorate their years in the city with a beautiful engagement session!
Chika and John enjoy a romantic picnic in Central Park and enjoy biking together! And traveling is high on their list!
THE PROPOSAL
Chika and John grew up in very different worlds for sure. Chika is from Japan and John grew up in North Dakota. John gave much thought about where he would love to surprise Chika when the time came to ask her to marry him. He thought that his parent’s country home in North Dakota would be the most romantic and perfect place ever! Of course, Chika was delighted and say YES!!
I was delighted when they reached out to me about photographing their special engagement. When I asked them where is the most special place to start our session, they both immediately knew it would be the Brass Monkey! It always was a very special place for them. It was truly one of the hottest days in July and in NYC it is usually warmer than most places but Chika and John did not complain once about the heat! We made our way to the famous High Line for a few photos where we could get a picture of the Empire State Building.
Soon after, we took a beautiful iconic yellow cab photo and then it was off to the one and only Central Park! The day was absolutely filled with sweet moments and beautiful memories!
Chika and John will be joining their friends and family next February on the island of Hawaii where they will become man and wife!
Thank you for sharing your story and engagement with me!
