HOW THEY MET
Alex grew up in Lake Bluff, IL and went to Lake Bluff College. Byron went to BC in Boston, Ma.. Their mutual friends got married in Chicago August 2018 where both Alex and Byron had attended the wedding. After the wedding their mutual friends thought it would be a great idea to introduce them. They had their first date in NYC at a beautiful Italian restaurant in the West Village. They both laughed about how they were both at the same wedding and their paths never crossed.
Alex and Byron love to travel and explore new places together, but some of their favorite weekends are when they are home in Greenwich Village. They love taking their sweet golden retriever, Finley for long walks in Washington Square Park and then grabbing a cup of coffee at one of their favorite coffee shops and just stroll around the neighborhood. They love cooking dinner together on Sundays.
HOW HE PROPOSED
Byron really surprised Alex with his engagement plan! In the spring of 2021, they decided to go look at rings together for fun and what styles or cuts that Alex would like. Alex’s brother was getting married in June of 2021 so she decided that Byron may propose in the fall towards the end of the year. In May, they had planned a fun trip to the Hamptons for a long weekend with some friends in July. When July finally came, Byron told Alex that the plans fell through because of some issues with the house they had rented. Byron’s friend from home had rented a house there for July and apparently through a big party for the 4th of July and things got out of hand and the neighbors called the cops. So his friend got kicked out of the rental for the rest of the month. Little did Alex know that this was all a giant ruse! She could tell that Byron was really bummed out because they were really looking forward to a long weekend and some beach time. He said he was looking into backup options to try and salvage the weekend and vacation days they already requested off.
He said everything was booked up so he found a place in Sea Island, GA. Sea Island was a place they first went when they started dating so it holds a special place in Alex and Byron’s hearts. During dinner Alex decided that it was far too hot and buggy to stay outside so she headed back to the room. Byron followed her in and was hovering around her when all of the sudden he was down on one knee with a ring box in his hand. She was so in shock, she barely remembered saying YES! It was such a beautiful and well thought out surprise!
When I asked them where they would like to do their engagement session with Finley, they knew all too well that Central Park would be the perfect place seeing it is such a classic, iconic place in NYC!
Congratulations Alex and Byron! We cannot wait to celebrate your wedding in 2022!!!
