Kari and Derick met on the dance floor at a New Years Eve party after the clock stuck twelve. They immediately had a great time spinning around and laughing together. While they were dancing, Derick asked for Kari’s number and after asking about three times, Kari finally gave it to him. Kari and Derick have spoken every single day since then. (Which is amazing because Derick doesn’t usually answer his phone.)
A few weeks later, they had their first date at The Cheesecake Factory. At the end of their first date, Kari realized that this could be something real and Derick couldn’t wait to see Kari again. They continued talking daily and began seeing each other every weekend. On March 9, 2019, Derick asked Kari to be his girlfriend while they were taking a walk on the boardwalk in Bradley Beach, New Jersey.
Derick and Kari quickly fell in love and the rest is history. Derick asked Kari to marry him on January 8th, 2022 at Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were there during the last week of the Christmas decorations to celebrate Kari’s birthday weekend. Kari was totally surprised and cried like a baby.
Dericks proposal was Kari’s dream come true.
