HOW THEY MET
Megan and Billy met in college in their Junior Year at Towson University. They were both at the Green Turtle Bar in downtown MD. They immediately connected and Billy decided to ask Megan on a date! Billy decided to take Megan to 8Ball Pizza. It just so happened to be Megan’s birthday that day and it was so lovely that they sat outside to share a pizza! One of the funny things Megan shared with me is that when Billy returned Megan to her college dorm, her dad was there waiting for her to take her out so Billy got to meet her dad on their very first date!
THE PROPOSAL
Megan had been waiting as patiently as could be for Billy to propose Analyzing his every move for months. The morning of.. he told her to get ready & be ready by 11:30, to not ask questions and just go with the flow. So as she was getting ready, he then told her that she might need her contacts and medicine for the next morning - so she immediately thought where are we going that requires sleeping a night away. Excitingly, she asked if they were heading to NJ or NY or DC or possibly Kent island? ask are we going to NJ? And he responds no to all and that he is not telling. So 11:30 comes and they get in the car. After driving for awhile, they end up passing through an area Megan did not recognize and now she totally thrown off.
We end up at Georgetown waterfront and park in a garage. We walk up to waterfront and stop for a moment and he says “isn’t this so nice, it’s such a great spot for pictures” of course she replied and said YES of course !They walk down to the waterfront and head into brunch.
Billy was upset when he found out that it wasn’t a sit down dinner because he had factored in the time to be seen by a waitress, investigate the menu, research reviews and pictures of the food on Instagram . Since they did not have a normal sit down dinner, there was a lot of time that Billy had not accounted for. Megan reassured him that it was fine and no big deal and that it was a fun experience anyway and the food was actually SOO delicious.
They then walked the waterfront and decided to sit on the Swedish embassy steps to people watch - which was Billy stalling (until their photographer was in position). This was her next clue because Billy NEVER likes to walk around and kill time, he also would never would have sat on the steps and people watched for about 30/45 minutes like they did. This moment was actually so special though and they were glad it happened because Megan now knew this would be one the last few moments they shared as BF/GF.
They got in the car and 30 minutes later, they end up at the National Harbor in MD. Megan noticed that Billy was looking for a certain something & it took him a minute or two to find his way . They started walking towards the Ferris wheel but then turned around, went up a street - passing a chipotle and a tractor trailer truck unloading packages, as billy starts saying - “do you remember this road? this is where we walked up to the hotel after my 21st birthday while it was snowing and I had you on my back while you were wearing my black peacoat” and she laughed and said omg yes - but in her head was praying he wasn’t going to drop to one knee next to the tractor trailer. They continued on down the pathway that lined the Potomac river and Billy was quiet, not nervous but quiet and they both knew the moment they were leading into. She pointed out to the end of the peer and said “see that kind of tent with the high peak, that’s the kind we got for the engagement party” . About a month before this, Megan asked him if she could start planning their engagement party for August and that they needed to start planning now because vendors would likely be taken as it was 2 months away and in the summer busy months and he smiled and said yes.) After Billy made that comment about the tent, Billy walked Megan off the pathway a little closer to the water using his shoulder & said “well we can’t have an engagement party with out being engaged, so will you marry me?” And of course she said “yes, you want to marry me ?!?!!!!” Shocked and excited. They hugged and kissed and when she opened her eyes, their two best friends were standing behind them with professional cameras crying and laughing. It was so amazing sharing that special moment with them.
They did a mini photoshoot after, got drinks with them on the rooftop of the Gaylord Hotel. They were greeted at the hotel with champagne and glasses and they went up to a beautiful corner suite with windows looking down at the water, the Ferris wheel, the pier and of course the spot he just proposed. They called all family and friends in between sips of champagne, went to dinner at Old Hickory steakhouse and then met their friends, Kristina and Ellis again after for more drinks & sunset pictures. They all then went to MGM casino - hoping it was a special day and they would get lucky . They broke even so they called it a win. The best part was when they went back to the hotel room and had a dance party of 4 with the TV volume on 20 (since it had a limit to be considerate of others) and it was the best time ever !!! Megan says it was the best memories ever!
