Alex and Jay met in the middle of the pandemic. They found each other virtually, but Alex was a bit nervous so she had her cousin do a little investigative work! Her cousin and Jay grew up in the same hometown so it was easy to check up on him!
After getting the green light, they texted for about a month while Alex was in California. Alex and Jay would say that they truly knew they had met their person even before meeting in person.
Their first date Jay offered to pick up Alex from the city and drive her back to New Jersey to visit her cousins. The first date was spent in the car in NYC traffic, arguing about whether or not to take the Lincoln or the Holland tunnel. (Jay will tell you that she won the argument).
Jay and Alex absolutely love their puppy Wilson (Yes, he is wearing a sweet bowtie and is adorable). They stare at him for hours on end and talk to him in baby talk! Seeing they met during lock down they spent their first few months of dating ordering take out food and watching TV and working next to each other on the couch. Lately, they are just enjoying all of the freedom to do the things that they missed out on. They love family time, so that has been wonderful as well!
On March 8, 2021, Jay secretly reached out to Alex’s parents via face time and asked permission to marry Alex. From there, the plans were in motion. Jay worked with Alex’s parents on a time and place and even changed her mom’s name in his phone so she wouldn’t see who he was talking to. Almost one month later, Jay set up fake meetings so that Alex had to pick up Wilson from Daycare. When she got home, there were 75 candles lit up around the apartment and stairs. Alex was shocked and actually asked, “What are you doing”? She accepted his proposal. There was one more surprise, a secret engagement party at Jay’s parents house with both their families present!
I cannot wait to celebrate next year at their beautiful wedding! Congratulations Alex and Jay!
