HOW THEY MET
Lauren and Justin first met on March 23rd, 2019. Lauren’s cousin and her husband were meeting Lauren at a local bar in town, and they brought Justin along. She did not know they were bringing a friend, and they insisted it wasn’t a set up! They did not really talk that much that night, and then they went their separate ways. It wasn’t until about 5 months later that she decided to look him up on Instagram and direct message him. She asked him if he would like to meet for a drink and he immediately said yes and asked for her phone number. They texted for a few weeks before setting up their first date!
FIRST DATE FUN
Their first official date was August 21st, 2019. They met at a local place called River of Beer! It went so well, they had lots to chat about, and found many things that they had in common. They both found out that they had been camping in a little town upstate! They love to fish, ski/snowboarding, skating, bike riding, hiking and making a fire pit and listening to music, playing darts, and even doing yard work together!
THE PROPOSAL
It was December 2020, and Lauren’s work had been very challenging for her for several months. Justin’s sister had gone away to a place called Cedar Lake Estates, (which is gorgeous and romantic) for the weekend and her pictures looked amazing. Lauren told Justin that she would love to do a get away and try Cedar Lakes sometime so Justin suggested that they go that following weekend.
Justin knew Lauren needed a getaway to disconnect from work, so she truly thought that was the only plan for the weekend! Cedar Lakes Estates is a magical place, it has the cutest cabins, a general store, a dining pavilion, an ice skating rink, cozy fire pits everywhere, all around a big lake surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. They went tobogganing, had a picnic lunch next to a fire pit, went snowmobiling, and the they went back to their cottage to get ready for dinner. Justin suggested that they go for a walk around the grounds before dinner, so off they went. They got to the big lake, and Justin suggested that they try to set up the phone with a timer to take our picture, which wasn’t strange at all.
The first photo was not very good, so they set it up to take another one. Just as the timer counted down, Justin got down on one knee and proposed!!! The camera caught it all! Although she was in shock and had covered her face!! Justin had been so nervous, but he soon was relieved. They went back to their cottage and called their families to tell them the awesome news! They celebrated that evening at dinner and toasted to their future together!
